Sometimes our dissatisfaction with life causes us to lose our ability to appreciate what is right in front of us. We may experience such a level of apathy that we can’t even see the greater potential that being alive has to offer. In the four of cups not only does this figure seem disenchanted with what is right in front of them but they have also lost connection with emotions in general. On a base level this card is about dissatisfaction, boredom, discontent or apathy but on a deeper level it can represent a feeling of numbness and disconnection from our emotional nature itself.
An important lesson of this card is that if we don’t connect with our current emotional states no matter how boring, painful or unpleasant they may be we are at risk of losing our ability to feel all aspects of life – even the joyful and exciting parts that we do with to experience.
