The Tarot and Spirituality

At my Meet Up group last night we were discussing the larger representations and significance of the Tarot suits. It got me thinking about spirituality and the tarot and how I see the bigger picture.

Here is my take:

The Major Arcana represent:

  • The 5th Element
  • Archetypes
  • Faces of God/Goddess
  • Collective Consciousness
  • Manifestations of Source Energy

Wands represent:

  • Fire
  • Creativity
  • Inspiration
  • Energy
  • Drive
  • High Self

Cups represent:

  • Water
  • Emotions
  • Subconscious
  • Inner Body

Swords represent:

  • Air
  • Intellect
  • Thought
  • Ego*

Pentacles represent:

  • Earth
  • Worldly Matters
  • Daily Life
  • Physical Realm

Court Card represent:

  • A blending of Major Arcana archetypal energy and the minors elemental energy.
  • The personification of an unique mixture of these energies at any given times.
  • They are subject to change because both archetypal and elemental energies can shift in individuals on a regular basis. We all have the power to change or evolve.

*This explains why the Swords are the most challenging and negative suit in the deck since from a spiritual perspective our ego is our greatest challenge in this reality.
